Od progona i masovnog egzodusa Hrvata s područja općine Kakanj prošlo je već 21 godina. Pretpostavljamo da se većina vas s gorčinom u srcu sjeća tog 13. lipnja 1993. godine kada je u samo jednom danu ili svega nekoliko sati ove prostore napustilo oko 12 tisuća ljudi koliko ih je tada živjelu na području župe Kraljeva Sutjeska. Nažalost, kao i na brojnim drugim mjestima diljem BiH i na ovim prostorima su se dogodili strašni zločini za koje počinitelji još nisu otkriveni a kamo li da su za njih procesuirani i pravedno osuđeni. Stradali su branitelji ali najviše nedužni civili koji su htjeli ostati svoji na svome.
Ovogodišnju 21. obljetnicu stradavanja i progona Hrvata općine Kakanj političke stranke i udruge proizišle iz domovinskog rata, rodbina i prijatelji poginulih obilježili su sudjelovanjem na sv. Misi zadušnici u župnoj crkvi sv. Ivana Krstitelja u Kraljevoj Sutjesci a koju je predvodio gvardijan Franjevačkog samostana fra Zoran Jaković koji je istaknuo, kako ne smijemo zaboraviti, žrtve trebamo cijeniti. A cijeniti ćemo ih tako ako budemo poštivali ono za što su oni dali svoje živote, ako budemo cijenili naš kraj, kulturu, povjest, jezik i narod. Branitelji su svoje živote dali za dobre ideje, da spase svoju zemlju i svoj narod, da spase svog čovjeka.
Poslije mise upriličen je obilazak grobalja te spomen obilježja i grobova poginulih u Kraljevoj Sutjesci, Grmačama, Čatićima i Slapnici uz molitvu za pokojne (opijelo) te paljenjem svijeća i polaganjem vijenaca.
